My school does not have a great record with Duke, but no one usually applies ED, do I have a shot?

I think you have a good shot- good GPA and great SAT means you should be set academically. Maybe if you talk more about your standout extracurriculars and what you did (FBLA, Debate, etc.) in your application, it’ll up your chances.

Chance back?

Why Duke? Make sure your passions come through. Like the first post said, you need to make your ECs sound more compelling.

Focus on how you have been a leader in your ECs. Also, in your interview (if you have one), really convey why Duke is your first choice.

You might find this video helpful. It’s an interview with Duke’s Dean of Admissions. No major secrets but it should give you some insight.

Duke alum here. A few questions for you:

  1. What is your class rank (if school doesn’t rank give your best guess?)
  2. What is your intended major?
  3. Duke also requires 2 SAT II subject tests. What are your scores?
  4. What is your breakdown on the 2320 SAT I?
  5. Will your recommendations say A) Best of career B) Best of year C) Top quarter ever D) Pretty good E) Average
  6. Are you an ORM?
  7. What type of high school do you attend (public/private/parochial)?
  8. How many APs are offered at your HS total
