Volunteer Work:
Tutoring - probably around 150-200 hrs mix of low-income as well as middle school students (9,10,11)
Part of a group of students that meet to build computers and servers for local charities. We get donations from Intel: cash and old comps. - 200 hrs or so (9,10,11,12)
Worked with Preschool Kids - a summer and a little bit afterschool so a bunch of hours (9,10,11,12)
Its called NSF (North South Foundation) it basically hosts math, vocabulary, spelling competitions nationwide and the proceeds from the competition help provide scholorships to kids in India that don't have much money. I have been working on that for the last 4 years and I am also a Technical Coordinator for the local chapter.

Internship:
Mentor Graphics - Worked as a web developer

Music:
Played the violin for 12 years (not really that good, but decent). Part of the school orchestra - principal violinist. I was part of Metropolitan Youth Symphony for a year, but quit due to time constraints.

Research/Awards:
I did two research projects didn't win much. The one I liked was a microbiology project that dealt with E.Coli developing resistance to common anti-bacterial products. I qualified for the Northwest Science Exposition and won the Air Force Award for Outstanding Project in Math and Science. Won regional prizes (2nd in Category). Also qualified for the Oregon Science Symposium and gave a presentation about my mircobiology project in front of a panel. Worked with a professor at University of Portland (doubt he will give a rec, he got very busy and lost a lot of funding so I was unable to continue research this year)
Won some regional math competitions and went to the Oregon Invitational Mathematics Tournament.
I was also the team captain for the state of Oregon at the Panasonic Academic Challenge (Organized the team, raised the money, and qualified for the tournament)

Schools that I am looking at:
Duke ED
Yale
Stanford
Harvard
Cornell
Northwestern
Washington U in St. Louis
USC
Oregon State University (Safety - Guaranteed Admission for applicants in the state of Oregon with a 3.25 GPA)

you'll most likely get into duke ED.

Yale - crapshoot
Stanford - crapshoot
Harvard - crapshoot
Cornell - low reach
Northwestern - high match
Washington U in St. Louis - high match
USC - match
Oregon State University - safety

HYS - you have a shot, but it's a crapshoot anyway. you just never know.

goooood luck.

Duke ED- Match
Yale- Have a shot but it's a crap shoot
Stanford- Have a shot but it's a crap shoot
Harvard- Have a shot but it's a crap shoot
Cornell- Match
Northwestern- High match
Washington U in St. Louis- High match
USC- Low match
Oregon State University- You have no chance in 100000000 years

bump
ten char

50/50 at Stanford, a bit worse than that at Harvard or Yale, virtual lock for duke ED (make sure its your definite top choice, because you have a solid shot there RD too).

that thing where u gave out computers for charites etc was that the intel post 915 thingy? I did that for a while it was pretty fun.
