Duke expects "about the same" number of ED apps as lat year

For the Class of 2010, about 1/3 of the 1500 ED applicants were admitted. all applicants will use the common application this year, which may help. Mixed views about the impact of the lax incident.

"Guttentag said the elimination of early admission at Harvard University, Princeton University and the University of Virginia, which will go into effect next fall, may have an impact on the number of regular-decision applications Duke receives next year...." (The Chronicle does not tell us what Guttentag thinks that impact may be, however.)

I personally think that since schools like Harvard are dropping early admission, this would increase the number of regular-decision applications Duke gets.

Duke will receive plenty of applications from people who would have applied to Harvard or Princeton Early, because it is likely that people who are really interested in these schools would choose to apply Early Decision elsewhere.

Also a whopping majority of people can't get away with only applying to Harvard and Princeton for regular decision... so they have to choose other schools and Duke is a likely top choice.

*** is wrong with you, go away.

this thread is soooooo old

thats really, really weird b/c i did not post here....
