Duke Focus Program - Application Question

I am applying for the Duke Focus Program and I love one specific cluster; however, I am not interested in the other clusters offered. In the application, it requires me to write four essays (400 words- not huge, but still extra work) for these other clusters as well as the first choice cluster. Can you apply specifically for one cluster (one essay) if its the only one you'd be interested in doing? And if not, can can you opt out of the program if you don't get your first choice? It would be a hassle to spend the time writing essays for courses I would not be doing.

It's not that the other clusters aren't great, they just don't interest me and would be harder to fit into my major requirements... Any ideas or info?

I don’t know but would be interested in the same question.
Also, do FOCUS courses spread over a year or the one semester?? I’m confused by that…

From what I understand, it is a one semester deal, but you can do it in either the spring or fall semester (I think, I would check their website…) However, you are in the dorms with other Focus students all year long. I was confused by that as well!
