I'm going to have an interview this week with an alumni at a local starbucks. Is it necessary to dress up or is casual fine?

My Duke alumni interview was pretty informal so I don't think you need to really dress up (wear a suit). But don't wear jeans or sandals, of course. I'd say a nice blouse/button-up shirt/polo and khakis/black pants would be nice. It never hurts to give a good impression :)

^^ I think that's a good idea, my other interview was really informal (at the interviewer's house) so I just wore jeans + nice shirt.

thanks for your input!

did u have to call in to receive an interview??
i turned my app in on nov 30th, and i haven't received any notification of an interview =(

I agree with (madrigal59) I had the same type! Don't worry!

hamsi, u'll definitely get an interview cause u turned it in b4...tomorrow haha...as to when is the interview its extremely varied i got interviewed in late feb and i had classmates interviewed in december so it can come almost any time but u'll definitely get one

haha i sent in my common app and supplement about a week ago, and apparently duke matched me up with my father, who also does interviews for duke. But my dad notified them, and I just got reassigned lol.

@nedflandersMD. According to Duke policy, your dad isn't supposed to be conducting any interviews in the same year that a child of his is applying to colleges. Just sayin'.

no I didn't call.
I turned in my application at the beginning of November.
Then, last week, an alumni emailed me and asked me if I was interested in an interview.
I think you have to give it time so that they can process your application and then contact an alumni.
