does duke contact you after they receive your application to contact you for an interview? how long does it take for them to contact you?

The alumni in your area (if there are any) will contact you about an interview. Don't freak out if you don't get one, though, because Duke interviews are purely informative rather than evaluative, and they're for you to learn more about the school.

I was actually told interviews can be a swing vote for a borderline applicant if the interviewer was extremely impressed.

Of course your chances of knocking the interview out of the park are low, especially with an experienced interviewer, so I'd just go with what warblers said.

I am worried too, its mid November and still no interview. I was hoping it could be one of those things for Duke to review on my app.

For Early Decision, you had to get Part I in by October 1 for an interview

My daughter sent in Part I for regular decision a few weeks ago and has already heard from an alumni for an interview this Friday.

The deadlines aren't set in stone, mjnets. I sent my application in well after the December 1 deadline for RD interviews (sent about Dec. 20 or so), and I got an interview in February.

Good luck with your D's interview, maryc!

is there a set month or date by which you have to get an interview done by ... because february seems kind of late to me at least...

Why does February seem late?
As warblersrule said, it's completely nonevaluative. They don't need the results of your interview to make a decision on your application.

ok thanks. i guess i was still thinking it was evaluative.

yeah, don't worry about the interview. I didn't interview at all and I still got in.

I was contacted today for an interview, but I don't really want to do it. What's a good reasoning for saying no.
