Same, and that’s what I’m trying to find out too! The email makes it seem like there’s a shortlist process for interviews, and I remember attending a DKU virtual info session where they said they only provide interviews for a fraction of the applicant pool, so I guess fingers crossed it goes well for your student!
We got one too. Hope it’s a good indication. With the current circumstances, I wonder how many people applied though.
I got an interview too!
If anyone has interview tips please respond.
I heard that there were a record number of international applicants this year so I’m assuming there’s an equally large number of people who got offered interviews.
In one of the other college confidential DKU groups someone said that being offered/not being offered an interview doesn’t indicate how likely an applicant is to get accepted or rejected.
Good luck everyone!
I got an email for an interview and im both overjoyed and freaking out a little lol. I really thought I wouldn’t get one.
As for interview tips, I actually found a video of a dku student describing her interview (starts at 1:24:00) : Successful Application to Duke Kunshan presented by Aisana Issabay - YouTube
Thanks for sharing!
Good luck to all!
Just as a reminder to anyone looking to ask specific DKU-related questions, including to current students, check this out! https://admissions.dukekunshan.edu.cn/en/chat/?ub_medium=product&ub_source=Chat%20Bubble&ub_content=Students%20Button
D21 had her interview today and it solidified DKU as her top choice. She has been very engaged throughout the entire process by participating in virtual visits, sessions with current students and several discussions with admissions. What has drawn her to the school is the diverse student body, experiential learning environment, immersion-based language learning and an opportunity to become an active and contributing member of both the DKU and local communities.
With decisions a month away, the wait continues. Best of luck to all!!!
Just wondering, does anyone have statistics on the number of applicants and typical acceptance/yield rates?
“The university received a total of 3,143 applications for an estimated 225 first-year spots, including 2,551 applications from China and 332 from the United States.
In March 2018, DKU admitted 251 students, or 7.98% of its inaugural applicant pool, a selectivity similar to the 8.3% acceptance rate at Duke University” (Duke Kunshan University - Wikipedia)
They also said that around 1,800 international students applied this year so I’m assuming there is an equally large number of Chinese students applying as well.
I know there are plans for the school to expand and accept more people but I don’t know if that has happened yet.
That’s all I’ve found so far, most likely a very low acceptance rate this year.
Does anyone know when DKU will actually issue decisions? I believe interviews concluded last Friday. Below are the past release dates…
PAST DECISION RELEASE DATES:
Class of 2024 = March 10 (2nd Tues)
Class of 2023 = March 26 (4th Tues)
Class of 2022 = March 30 (Last Fri)
Wow all over the place!
Hopefully sooner than later
DKU usually aims to release admissions decisions around March 15th—it’s not a guarantee, but a good benchmark to look for.
I don’t think my D21 can sleep tonight… so much suspense!!!
How’s everyone feeling?
nervous as well haha . I read on dku’s reddit that decisions were pushed to the end of the week
I actually had trouble sleeping last night! Can’t wait to just find out what the decision is, even if it is rejection. At least then I’ll sleep easy
Do you have any idea at what time they’re coming out?
I checked the dku reddit that mence mentioned and someone who said they were a current DKU sophomore claimed that decisions were being pushed back to the end of the week.
I also read in the Duke Kunshan University Class of 2023 thread that past applicants had been notified by email about when the decisions would be released. Not sure if they’re doing that this year though.
I guess we’re about to know, if it’s today then they’re about 15 minutes away from releasing if it’s coming out at 7EST and if not then we’ll wait until the end of the week.
Hey guys, my finical aid checklist has changed. There are some items that are missing even though I submitted them and they were received in the portal before. Is just me or should contact the admission team?
Ours shows Status Pending and “supporting document requested” but we don’t remember if it’s always been like that or its status has been changed.
Mine hasn’t changed. You might want to contact the admission team. It might be that they’re updating the portal as decisions come up. Although I’m taking that to mean that I probably didn’t get in
