I am a prospective student of M Engg in Mechanical Engg for Fall 2011 at Duke Univ.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me more about this course.
The course overall / duke reputation / job and internship opportunities and most important current students info - no of students in course etc ..

Anyone from India??

Did you visit the website for M. Engg department at Duke?

Yes I did, but couldn’t find these info. They said about the course info., electives , credits etc but failed to tell anything about current students.; total strength , internships etc. I also got to know that M Engg got started a year ago only and so admissions dept don’t have much of info regarding this.
My concern is about the reputation of the course ? Is it at par with MS course from Tier 1 Colleges.?? Because I have admits from CMU , NWU, Purdue and U Mich as well but personally I am inclined to duke owing to its comparable ivy staus, branding and M Eng course as I intend to do start my professional career rather going for PhD. I am confused

MEMS Dept @ Duke looks good. Faculty is dominated by MIT graduates but the department is much smaller than at other places you mentioned.

As you know, they are all very good universities and my opinion is that you will be better off making the decision based on match rather than status. Looking at professors’ research interests and recent publications will give you a good idea about what goes on at those places.

Wish you all the best.
