Hi, I’m an OOS applicant to Duke University. I was just wondering if anyone know how the process for being selected for merit scholarships worked. I’ve seen how it works for Robertson, but wasn’t sure about the other ones. I assume there is some kind of semi-finalist/finalist process involving an interview. IF they are considering you, when do they usually contact you for this (if they even do)?
You can call the scholarship office. I called right after we visited to find out the percentage of merit scholarships offered. I got right through to someone who could answer my questions.
Does anyone know if any full ride scholarships are awarded at the time of admission, or are they all awarded competitively in the spring?
So do you know what the percentage of merit scholarships offered is? @SuzTwo
This thread suggests that emails will be going out Friday to any RD applicants that are under continued consideration for Duke merit scholarships (good luck!):
@crowningflowers I called over a year ago… so I don’t recall exactly, but the numbers were low. If I recall, I think the percentage worked out to be about 60 people receive some merit money out of the incoming class. Like most highly selective schools, they give most of their money to demonstrated need.
