Duke/NCSU/UNC/Wake Forest Transfer

Alright so to tell you a little bit more about myself. I'm an in-state resident in HS my WGPA was a 3.4. My ACT was a 23. I come from a diverse background and parents are upset I'm going to ECU in the fall. I'm not as naturally smart as they were. My plan for the next 1 to 2 years is to study myself to death and attain the highest GPA to transfer into one of these colleges. My major is going to be philosophy or economics. What is the best advice for going into college in the fall. What's the average GPA I should attain for each school? Also what are some tips for trying to get in? If you could break down each school for me. Also you could be frank or honest with me. If I have no chance then just say it. Thank You!!

You want to get the highest GPA possible. I can’t Comment Wake/NCSU/UNC, but Duke has a notoriously low transfer rate, like 2-3%. The others are more reasonable. Check the websites, and see what courses you need to complete. If you apply for a Junior transfer, your HS record will be less important.

Duke is ridiculously hard to transfer to. From my opinion, the only way someone with an alright HS record can transfer to Duke is to wait until your Junior year, try if you really want it. The other schools do take your HS/test scores into account, but a good college GPA (3.7+) can do it.

Work your butt off and attain high grades. NCSU is definitely within reach - the others are far more competitive.

Again like I said - put yourself academically above everyone else and have a high GPA. Also retake the ACT a couple times your freshman year and do prep. Duke requires SAT or ACT w/ writing scores for transfer applicants.

Good luck and don’t worry!
