Duke neuroscience

Can anyone comment on the neuroscience major at Duke? (difficulty of doing undergraduate research, difficulty of keeping high gpa, professors, etc.) From what I've researched it seems excellent, and if I get accepted/go to Duke I'm really thinking about majoring in neuroscience.

Any comments from current students would be great!

^^ by research, I mean other than the capstone research

I’d also like to know about this. Can someone tell me the benefits of this? I’d be going into pre-med and I’d really like to learn about the CNS. However, I saw that programming was a part of neuroscience and I don’t want to work with computers and stuff that much… or at least computers with programming.

I just got back from a visit to Duke and I was able to speak to the director of the neuroscience program as well as one of the professors. It seemed excellent all around. The professors for the neuroscience major all opt into teaching their classes, as opposed to having to teach certain classes simply because they are in their department, so they are very enthusiastic about the subject. Also, the professor I spoke with said research is extremely easy to do, and you actually have to do at least some research to complete the major. Also, you have access to the largest research facility in the country, which helps

@AznPride2012, I don’t think you have to take any programming classes. This is a course listing for the major http://www.dibs.duke.edu/uploads/assets/77/courses_2011_Fall_highlighted_2011-03-23.pdf
