i'm planning to go into law, and i'm uncertain where i would be better off in terms of interships, connections, etc. i visited both places and loved them equally. although i could see myself more at cal (just because i live in southern california), i don't want to give up this opportunity to go to duke.
do a lot of students @ cal end up at the top law schools every year? the competitions seem fierce at berkeley and the profs don't seem to care much about the students becuase they're busy doing their own research. with that being said, i need input.

Professors are very welcoming for the most part. I'm sure there are some that are busy with research, but don't you think professors do research at Duke? As for the competition, its not like the competition to go to med school where all pre med people are taking the same classes. You can get into law school from any major, but the ones that help the most are probably those in the humanities, which are mostly essay based classes. There is no competition when writing essays. Either its good or its not and it doesn't matter how well the guy next to you did. If money is not an issue then maybe going to Duke would be a good idea just because it would be a complete change of pace for a SoCal kid, but both are good schools so you can't really make a bad choice.

I'd go to Duke. I think you would have a better overall undergraduate experience. Both schools are great at academics and both schools have outstanding athletic programs. However, I would give the edge to Duke in terms of social life and having fun. I live in san francisco and if u went to CAL you couldn't go wrong with having fun here in the city as there is a lot to do, but most ppl at CAL are focused on school and a lot do not even party but rahter play computer games in the dorms. you cant go wrong with either, however, i would definately give the edge to DUKE
