Duke or Dartmouth?

Economics and Computer Science double major. Goal: finance job within a West Coast tech firm.

Duke excels in both areas. In honesty, I cannot offer a fair, comparative assessment re Dartmouth.

Duke is superior in all regards. Dartmouth is sub-par in every aspect. The choice is clear. Duke beats Dartmouth.

I also chose between Duke and Dartmouth (among others), and have decided that Dartmouth is a slightly better fit for me. I don’t know about Computer Science, but Econ at either school will be top-notch. Dartmouth tends to have a higher percentage of post-grads pursuing consulting and financial services.

What tipped the scales for me, however, was the social fabric of Dartmouth. The student body seems more outdoorsy and close-knit. Granted, both schools have excellent school spirit. But personally, I love that Dartmouth is such a small school in a rural setting.

Let us know what you ultimately decide!

Duke has a very tight-knit student body as well in additional to plently of access to the outdoors (gardens, hiking trails, mountains/beach hours away, etc.).

Duke is very strong in both areas. I had to make the same decision a few years ago, and I chose Duke because its culture appealed to me more than Dartmouth’s. Duke is also ranked higher, and has better name recognition (if those things matter to you) not to mention more opportunities for research.
