Duke or Northwestern (MMSS)

So for the past week I had basically decided on going to Duke next year, but now that I've gotten into MMSS at NU I'm starting to wonder if it will give me more opportunities than Duke. Would I be getting basically the same education by doing Econ at Duke with the finance concentration and perhaps a minor or second major in Math? Also, how would the job opportunities compare for the two schools? If it were just Duke vs Northwestern without MMSS I would choose Duke but the program just seems to be tailored perfectly to what I want to study.

(PS: It would cost me 25k a year more to go to Northwestern, so is the extra 100k by the time I graduate worth it?)

“is the extra 100k by the time I graduate worth it”

No.

cost 100k more? I’d probably go to Duke unless you really want that program and can bargain with the financial aid office.

If the costs were the same, how would you guys compare the two?

I’m actually not familiar with Duke. I never applied there, but I do hear that MMSS grads are highly sought after.

Go to Duke. Both schools are excellent choices.

Have you been selected to participate in any select program at Duke? That’s what MMSS is. Very special. If there’s no cost differential, there’d be no debate. Is the $100k difference painful? That’s your call.

pm me if you want to talk about NU recruiting (also in regards to mmss). also let me know what career you are interested in.
