Eventually will do finance. Narrowed it down to Duke and Stern (Scholars wit scholarship). Gotten rid of dartmouth NU and chicago (too expensive). I loved Duke's campus, but Stern is already in NYC and was wondering if id get the same opportunites at Duke as i would at Stern. Please let me know any suggestions.

Active recruitment from major WS firms will be the pretty much the same. Smaller banks don't usually recruit at Duke, but the Duke name certainly won't hurt you should you choose to send in a resume. The biggest advantage I can see for a finance major in NYC is the fact that you can take on school-year internships rather than compete for summer ones. Ultimately however, Duke students looking to go into i-banking do fine, as do Stern students (obviously). I might pick Duke just because it has an overall stronger name than NYU, should you decide you don't want to go into finance. But if you're sure, then you can't go wrong with either one. So to sound cliche: pick based on fit. :)

haha thanx banana

Pick Duke - you will be with smarter people, its a more prestigious place, its more fun, and you will be recruited by top firms anyways

Dartmouth and Duke are so similar that I'm suprised you crossed one off and not the other, I'm a big green fan but see how Duke can overall be better

I don't know what part of NY you are from, but for me, one of the most exhilerating experiences of this past year has been moving to a completely new and unfamiliar place and meeting so many new people. Also, I really enjoy the flexibility of a liberal arts education - whatever, you're interested in, you're encouraged to take classes in it. Ultimately, you have two very solid choices, good luck.

No problem. It might also be worth mentioning that I was in your position last year (Stern Scholar v. Duke, among other choices). I may not be 100% happy with the decision I made, but FWIW, I don't regret turning down Stern.
