I've been accepted at Duke and at the UVa Echols scholar program. I am not getting any un-biased advice because my Mom and Dad and step dad all went to UVa and my senior advisor and favorite teacher went to Duke.

It's a good thing I have a month to decide because it's going to take me that long. To complicate matters further, I'm also on the waiting list at both Harvard and Princeton, so I have to think about that, too.

Just FYI, the likelihood that you'll get off the Harvard and/or Princeton waitlist is very slim. I wouldn't devote too much time to thinking over that - take it more as a "cross that bridge if you get there" type thing.

Duke all the way.........I also got into both (but not UVA Echols) and it's not even an option with me. Duke is definitly more prestigious (and Im in VA). But not sure......Echols def has alot of perks (and I mean alot) but pick the school u love (I love Duke!)

Slightly more prestigious? Yes. Four times as prestigious, hence four times as expensive? Not a chance. If money will in any way be an issue for someone, this choice involves much more than just picking the school you like more.

And that's not a dig at you Runawa - I made the same choice. But I still think it's an important point to bring up.

Since it looks like she's in Atlanta, (and will thus pay OOS tuition,) I would recommend Duke. I got into Duke and UVa as well and will most likely be matriculating at Duke.

yeah, I'm not really holding out on the waitlist thing... I was just excited not to be flat-out rejected from Harvard! Honestly, I only applied there because it was common app and it was easy. The idea of going to Harvard kind of scares me.
