Anybody get them?

I got one-- and dont think you have to have 2300+ SAT and perfect gpa because I sure didn’t.

*those are the highlights, I guess- no special academic awards or honors

Congrats and good luck to all- I got in to UNC Honors and I’m still waiting on others (not sure if I’ll end up at Duke)

^ wow those extracurriculars are amazing. I guess the only thing we have in common is a love of fishing. haha!

@wilmywood, congrats!!! Do you mind telling us what state you live in?

Born and raised in NC, which I’m sure aided in my likely letter seeing as Duke wants to get as many NC kids in as possible.

@busterbeetle-did you apply to Duke for their marine science?

received my likely letter today in tx <3

it’s dated feb 1 though and I didn’t check the mail until I read this thread, so may have come earlier

I’m in texas also, so I’m guessing no likely for me… I knew that I prob wouldn’t get one, but I hoped ;)

@wilmywood

Nope! Actually I applied Biomedical Engineering to Pratt. But my interviewer and I were talking about fishing near the Beaufort Marine Lab :)

Any New Yorkers get anything?

@lexieam – Negative. Considering they were sent on Thursday, we would have them right now if we were mailed one. Keep your head up, most kids who get accepted don’t get likely letters anyway. Around 50 days and we will know our fate!

@drewski94 UGH! I’m so not good at the waiting thing, but it is a valid point! I guess we will all know our fates soon enough … :)

My son received a likely letter yesterday, dated Feb.1. Located in New England, engineering major. Good luck to everyone!

^^not for nothing but 6 days in the mail, east coast to east coast? No wonder the post office is having problems.

@wilmywood and @theyeaman, did your letter explicitly say how many people are receiving likelies? also, were you invited to DukeUpClose in this letter?

they did not say specifically how many likely letters they were sending, but they called it a “small group of particularly outstanding applicants,” and some other member cited the number as 300-350 in the “likely letter came today” thread. I think that’s probably accurate. it sounds like a good number, around 10% of accepted applicants.

as for the DukeUpClose, I’ve never heard of it, and it wasn’t mentioned in the letter. They did invite me to this think called Blue Devil Days though. maybe these are the same thing? i dunno.
