I am applying to Duke in the regular decision pool and am unsure of my chances. I feel as though my chances are very slim considering my below average GPA and the fact that I am applying regular decision as opposed to early decision. Here are some of my stats:
White Male/Elite Catholic school
State: OH
ACT: 35 composite, (36 English, 35 Science, 34 Reading, 33 Math)
GPA: 4.05 weighted, 3.92 UW ( although my school only reports the weighted GPA)
AP: 7 total courses (school’s rigid curriculum doesn’t allow for much flexibility here)
AP Scores: 5 Calculus AB, 5 Latin, 5 English Lang. Comp.
Intended Major: Economics
ECs and Honors
- Held a research internship at Ohio State University working for over 300 hours over the last 2 summers.
2.150 working at a local Science Center, - 600 hours at a local senior center,
- Mission trip to rural WV,
- 3 years of NHS and 3 years of Student Council
- Founded a golf club at my school
- 2 sport varsity athlete ( baseball, soccer),
- 3 year National Latin Exam Medalist
National Merit Commended Scholar
Letters of Rec: Counselor 10/10 Teacher 9/10
Essays: 9/10
