Duke Standardized Test Preference

Hello All!

Just a quick question which had been plaguing me a bit -
Does Duke have any preference for either the ACT or SAT?

This is a huge concern for me because I made a 2040 SAT (not so hot), but a 33 ACT (which is okay, but I didn't prepare so I should be able to raise it at least 1 point, or at most 3 when I retake in October).

No. I got in with just the ACT (although also sent SATIIs). But I know others who just sent their ACT. Also, a 33 on the ACT is well within the range. Don’t worry about it, and try to improve other areas of your application.

Kinda similar boat as you, hackleman:

2090 on the SAT, 33 on the ACT, and they let me in. Duke has no preference regarding the SAT or SAT, and, like bluedog said, your ACT is in the range. At this point, it’s really not a huge deal to raise your ACT because it definitely wouldn’t be the reason why Duke didn’t let you in if you were to get rejected.
