Duke Undergraduate Research

Hi so I know Duke is a heavily research-oriented insitution. How easy would you say it is to get research as an undergraduate? Or even as a freshman? Thanks!

Extremely easy. Just find a few professors you’d like to work with, email or call them, with some of them you might even be able to just walk in but I’d go with email or calling at first.

note of advice: subscribe to the listserv for majors of whatever research field you’re interested in. at the beginning of every semester, you will be BOMBARDED with emails about researchers on campus looking for lab assistants. some of these jobs are pretty menial, but it’s easy to work your way up if you show commitment/have experience.
or if you have a particular interest, like people have said, email a professor directly. there are webpages in each department that names the research each faculty member is involved with.
