Hello. I don’t know what to say so i am just going to start. My dad went to Duke on scholarship to play football, graduated, and now he is a very involved alumnus, doing interviews, hosting programs, etc. I have a 4.4 GPA, 33 act, APs. I am also a triplet, and all of us have over a 32 act, 4.2 GPA. What do you think of our admissions chances if we all apply ED, as a package deal of sorts? Also, separate question, If I apply to Duke early action, will it hurt my chances by a lot compared to ED? I’m guessing if you are a legacy and you show interest by applying ed you have way higher chances?
Not sure about Duke, but at some elite schools legacies are expected to apply ED if offered as an option or lose their legacy admissions bump.
Duke has ED binding option (no EA). Legacy preference is in ED round, not much in RD.
I am not sure what is your question. Whether all 3 of you should apply ED together ? Do all of you love to go to Duke or is it just you ?
Do you think it would be almost guranteed admission if all 3 of us applied ed together?
No. There’s no way for you guarantee admission for 3 people, let alone 1. Extremely selective institutions such as these are a reach for everyone.
Im just asking if our chances will go up. I know anotherset of triplets who applied ED to brown, and all got in.

@SkiingIsLife I see what you did there.
I doubt having three people from the same family applying would be a hook. You can all apply ED to raise your chances but know that you most likely won’t all get in, and then you’ll need to separate for college.
Your chances will not go up or down if you all apply ED. College admissions is not a package deal - each application will be reviewed on it’s own merits.
@albertsax Legacy though?
@SkiingIsLife Still, don’t apply ED and expect to all get in. Legacy doesn’t guarantee anything.
You should all apply to a range of colleges where each of you would be happy to attend if admitted together or separately and can afford to attend. 3 kids in college at once is a lot of tuition. Duke admits many legacies in the ED round. Duke takes a large part of its class ED. If a legacy does not ED, Duke is less likely to take the legacy in the RD round as Duke is not the applicant’s clear first choice. Duke is very selective and may or may not take triplets as a package deal. Duke mentions some special programs for legacies on its website. https://alumni.duke.edu/benefits/admissions
