I plan on my recommendations from my teachers and my personal statement to be great.

Your unweighted GPA and SAT are both below average for Duke. I’d say it would be a reach to high reach for you. Good luck!

Are you a recruited athlete? Winning the national championships in soccer is truly a great accomplishment. If you can get the Duke coach to support your application then I think you’ll have an easy shot.

But if not, then I agree with the poster above: Your SAT score is below the average, my guess is that you’re probably at about the 25th percentile. Duke does take students with scores like yours, but they usually are hooked or recruited athletes.

Best option for you would be to retake the SAT and shoot for a score within the 50th percentile. Good luck

I really don’t think your SAT score is too low for Duke. Though you may be slightly below average on gpa and SAT, they’re both high enough to get you past the initial round of rejections (I do know a non-recruited student who got in with a 26 ACT…not that it’s the norm, but really, scores aren’t everything).

Admission to Duke is very competitive. The truth of the matter is that a lot of the people who apply to Duke are academically qualified to attend. Unfortunately, there just isn’t enough space for everyone, but a rejection doesn’t mean you aren’t smart enough. You have a fine shot, and even if you don’t get in, don’t beat yourself up about those extra 30 points on the SAT or anything.
