@sumguy I believe Duke under enrolled a little this year, which could be why they began taking people off the waitlist a bit early. Also, don’t be discouraged; i did not submit my LOCI until 4/24 and then received the strange email asking if I was still interested on 4/27.
I forgot who asked about gender, but I’m female
@Eyeful_Tower There is no need to remove yourself from waitlists, you just CANNOT double deposit / double enroll. For instance, I am still on the waitlist at another institution.
For those who have visited campus, what was it like (pros and cons)? I have never visited the area. I would appreciate any info, thanks!
I was accepted to Duke from waitlist, deposited $ for WashU since duke asked to enroll in an institution when you are on waitlist because they cannot guarantee spot. I withdraw application form WashU on 4/30, do I need to inform Duke?
I’ve met at least 3 people from accepted students day deciding between WashU and Duke, as well as 6 people getting into WashU and waitlisted at Duke. I wonder why this trend is so common. I’ve never seen a combination so frequent like this before.
@vc_scrubjay
Are you sure? I want that to be true but at the same time, looking at last year’s thread, they also took people off the waitlist around this time as well but it seems like last year’s waitlist activity was pretty scarce.
Duke is my only hope now. I did not get into a single private school outside of USC with its notoriously bad financial aid. (RIP WashU reject)
just got in this morning!
It seems to me that everyone who received that strange email indicating that their application was reviewed by the Dean and that a reply is needed to demonstrate commitment for Duke, usually gets admitted in a day or two afterwards.
@hullo4107 when did you get that other email? It seems that there’s been very little activity toady so I’m dying to hear more of my abysmally low chances of getting in.
@threeplustwo mine did within a day of sending anything, but if they don’t no need to sweat. Somebody earlier this thread got in even thought their AO did not respond to their LOCI.
@mrekutin Nope. Could you paste the email over? Is there any other information on it?
Hi everyone,
Just an update- after thinking very long and hard with my parents, because of things like cost, location, and my specific plans for the future, I have ultimately decided to decline my offer at Duke. I hope someone else will be able to take my spot and fulfill their dreams there. Good luck to everyone!
@sighcollege I’m sure this was a difficult decision. Wishing you all the best! I’m remaining hopeful that my daughter receives the coveted email from Duke. Good luck to everyone else on the waitlist.
