Duke v. Dartmouth v. Cornell

i plan to major in economics, and eventually get an MBA.
i live in the south, so Duke's weather is more pleasing.
but ive always wanted to go to school up north.
im a huge duke basketball fan, so id love to be a cameron crazy.
dartmouth seems to foster a strong sense of community, which i like.
im looking for school spirit, quality education, extracurricular and athletic options.
where should i go?
(ps i dont really care about cornell. too cold. but maybe i should consider it more?)

in all honesty, if you wont consider cornell because it's "too cold" then throw out dartmouth as well. You wont be getting any better weather in NH than NY. I dont know why people like to point a finger at Cornell's weather when going to a place like Harvard isn't exactly a tropical paradise either (in fact, the weather in Boston gets just as cold and crappy too).

"im looking for school spirit, quality education, extracurricular and athletic options."

Cornell has tremendous school spirit, i'd argue that Cornell hockey games are even more intense than duke bball games (i know that's saying alot, my point!). The quality education is obviously there, and Cornell offers over 700 student organizations, which i assume are much more than dartmouth and duke.

Duke sounds perfect for you with the spirit, excellent academics/professors, extracurriculars (almost anything you want), and athletics (at least basketball). Economics is very popular here and I found my first class in that department very informative and interesting for a large intro course.

Dartmouth also has its advantages, and you should visit both and seriously consider them. It doesn't sound like you want Cornell as much, so you can probably narrow it down to the other two.

Cornell weather is nothing out of the ordinarily unless you come from a really hot place. Seriously why are people so afraid of the cold? Its the 21st century guys, we invented coats and jackets for a reason. Its not like Cornell is in the middle of Antartica

i just am not attracted to cornell. for many reasons besides the cold. mostly im deciding between dartmouth and duke. help with that please.

dartmouth is smaller and more liberals arts type.

Having driven to cornell, it had much more of an isolated feeling than Hanover, NH. You drive thru nothing but fields and trees for an hour (I came from Philly to Ithica), so maybe the weather isn't too different, but it has the feeling of being far away. Personally, I think Boston is a bit warmer, and definitely less average snowfall. But it does get very dirty, sandy and mushy in the winter ---that's the city for you.
