Duke vs. Brown for Business

Which would better prepare me for a career in business, i.e. Wall St.? I’ve heard Duke has better recognition, while Brown has more prestige and is more selective, so I don’t know. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Recognition on Wall St.?

Have you gotten into both of them yet? Until that happens, I wouldn't worry about it. They are both excellent schools.

Go to Penn.

Wharton deferred me, lol.
I'm also wondering about Brown's business/economic program. How good is it really?
I heard that it was strong, so I applied, but now that I do some searches online it seems that it's not even top 10 ranked, and on some rankings, not even top 20. Could someone please clarify?

I think Duke is stronger in business. It may not be an Ivy but it's still a phenomenal school. Brown doesn't even have its own business school.

Brown has a very strong economics department. Many rankings are based on graduate schools and not undergraduate. Brown does not have a "business" department/concentration per se. Many students get jobs on Wall Street. Again -- why not deal with this issue once you get into both schools, instead of worrying about it 3 months before decisions come out?

While Brown has a strong economics department, economics =/= business. We have a strong traditional of sending people to Wall Street and consulting, neither of those are really business either.

We produce a tremendous number of entrepreneurs-- the exact stat is escaping but I want to say that something like 30-40% of Brown students will own their own business at some point. It was something staggering though I may be exaggerating since it's been a few years since I've heard the number cited.

But that's not really business either.

Our formal "business" training is not very large-- COE is the closest to it and it really is more designed with entrepreneurship in mind. It's hard to rank us as a "business" school because we have students who are remarkably successful in business but don't offer anything like a traditional academic environment in business.

Brown does not have a business school!
