Duke vs Brown

Ooops. Sorry :-[. I meant to delete my "pop-pop" post. I have no idea whether the OP is ready for grad school or not nor has this thread led me to believe hi isn't/is. Jmleadpipe's post just reminded me of an Arrested Development quote (I've been obsessed lately)... then, I realized my post was inane and thought I dleted it...but, apparently it's still there. heh. sorry =) and best of luck to the OP

Brown does not have a business school. So is Princeton.
Brown engineering is probably as good as UPenn and Dartmouth.
All four are Ivy League so go figure.

If top-rated business training is what you seek, head to Duke. My guess is your heart is already set up for Duke but got trapped by the allure of Ivy League (who doesn't??!!) Trust your instinct.

you feel people very good! Exactly!

And now I wanna know how Brown Engineering and business divisions are good? ANYONE? Brown's affiliated are welcome :) And someone from PRIME??? This is a new program, and so they don't have alum network.

As I know Duke's MEM program is a little bit older and already has alums over the world...

jmleadpipe - I appreciate every post, but you did't even try to understand me...

Both Universities are AWESOME! And in any way I think I will be happy with my choice.

Who saying that these schools are totally different, please, help to choose!

See, Brown is well known for its Undergrads, it has small grad student body - 1500 (respectively), but it is Brown and Ivy. And it has excellent academics (if listen others...) Didn't understand one thing - if they have free curricular, but for PRIME I should finish 6 courses, is that mean I need to finish them? Want or don't?

On the other hand, Duke known for its Grads! almost 6000! Awesome campus (Can someone send me fotos of Brown campus??? to aibek.nurkadyr (pet) gmail.com), great nature, cool academics, but sometimes I hear that it has ... southern culture (respectively, again). And it a little far away from MA and boston, known academic center.
Duke gave me answer in feb, and while discovering it I almost fell in love :)

I should make decision soon, before 5 of april, to be in time( will send by fedex).

there's no such thing as "ready" for grad school imo - my experience has been that all grads are less mature than undergrads - they just have more knowledge.

I head to Duke due to Fugua B school

Can someone tell me the level of engineering and business courses in Brown?
Really important for me! Need to know to death...

Brown guarantees funding for five years for all incoming PhD students

...I have pop-pop in the attic

what is pop-pop?

I am on master program. Have fellowship from Kazakhstan government which covers everything. So, fortunately, I do not need to think about tuition. Only University level matters.

Hello, Duke!

Duke says "Welcome! We love you come and know you will love us too! Now please add 'Rejected Brown' to your list of accomplishments. Don't look back. Plan to make the full use of your time at Durham."

I was told this is a new policy for quite a few departments this year. Because they were deciding a LOT more money this time, adcoms were extremely selective, handing out less offers, and only to the Creme de la Creme of their pools. If you didn't get into Brown this year, this policy may be at play. I fully expect ranking for many Brown department to move up a few slots.

While the new policy is a definitely boon to students. Personally, I like the policy where all first year students are fully funded and then annually renewable based on performance. It allows adcom to try a "more risky" candidate and also gives the department the tool to cut off the oxygen tanks of those underperform.

depends on the field, but I would say Brown.

brown has one of the oldest and well-established engineering programs in the country, even pre-dating MIT

what about business courses level?

Hi everyone!

Writing with a mixed feeling  So, 5 years passed since I have graduated from Duke university Master of Engineering Management program, and happy for the choice I made.

I want to thank CC and all who answered me. You made your impact on someone life’s
