Duke vs Chapel Hill

Duke has a better pre-med program and medical school but Carolina gives me quite a bit more credits based on my SAT I, SAT II, and AP scores.
I'm Hispanic so i think Carolina has a better community feeling for me, since it has a larger Hispanic population.
Duke has more undergraduate research opportunities but Carolina doesn't lag behind either...

Which one would you pick?

Well…it also depends on whether or not you want to watch your basketball team get consistently slammed at home by its biggest rival. :P

Haha just playing.

But from a serious, non-athletic perspective, you really would win either way. Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill are both nationally recognized as exceptional universities.

The nice thing about Duke, UNC, and NC State all being in that general area is that your research opportunities will be more or less the same wherever you go … the colleges allow you to use all the libraries and I’m sure the professors at each are very eager to assist.

Duke is pretty diverse, if you’re concerned about diversity. But if you would prefer a larger Hispanic community, specifically, then yes, you’d probably be better off at UNC.

Size could be something to consider, as well. Do you want a medium sized student body with about what? 8,000 students? Or a very large student body with 16,000?

I go to Davidson … we have 1,600 and that feels big to me. You would be surprised what can feel “too big” or “too small.”

And that’s my two cents.
