i know both schools have phenomenal medical schools, but at undergraduate level, which school better prepares the students for med sch.?

Duke.

Higher acceptance rate at Med Schools
Better Campus
Better School

I'd give the edge to Duke. Duke and Johns Hopkins have roughly the same acceptance rate to med school (~90%), but JHU has a nasty reputation for discouraging unpromising premeds. Duke is also less competitive, and there's more grade inflation than at JHU. However, Duke, JHU, WUStL, and Cornell are well-known for "weeding out" pre-meds.

If I were pre-med, I'd go somewhere like Kalamazoo or Haverford where the med school admit rate is 98-100% and the atmosphere's a lot more supportive and relaxed.
