Can anyone give me any advice on picking between the two schools. It would be much cheaper for me to go to lehigh -- is Duke worth the extra $$?

amount of money?

I would be getting 20,000(merit) at lehigh. My first year i am supposed to be getting 15,000(financial aide) at Duke, but that may change becasue my sister will graduate college - however she will be attending medical school so I do not know if that still counts towards financial need considerations.

is the merit at lehigh guaranteed for four years? some schools lure you in with high merit awards but then don't do the same the next year. at least at duke you're guaranteed reasonable financial aid for all 4 years. I would ask the financial aid department how they deal with professional student siblings before you make your decision.

I live down the street from Lehigh, and its completely free from me practically.

I'd rather go to Duke though, because I think its resources are much greater.

What do you want to study?

I'd like to study biomedical engineering and eventially pursue medical research

if you're really sure you want to do BME, I'd say come to Duke.

well, I heard that BS in biomed doesn't matter as much as MS, so I'd go for whatever is cheaper - do you like the lehigh atmosphere?

According to this, Lehigh isn't ABET accredited for BME so I'd be VERY careful about studying BME over there.

There are, however, much cheaper alternatives to Duke on that list.
