Duke vs. Tufts

sorry, i hate these threads, but its always fun to try and make random strangers solve your problems :)

Okay, so these are my top choices out of the 4 i got into. Finances aren't a concern for this scenario. I don't know what I want to major in, but probably something in the humanities/maybe economics. I might be interested in getting an MBA and going into investment banking (if that *!@# is still around in 10+years) eventually. Imagine that I like both campuses equally, which is sort of how I feel, except Duke might be a bit close to home, and I haven't done an overnight yet (but im going to) at Tufts.

I appreciate any opinions about which to choose. Obviously the final decision I will make, probably independently of anything anybody posts, but I'm curious to see what you all would do in my position.

go to duke.

I don’t know enough about Duke to compare the two schools, but one of my friends I think was making the same decision and seems to be very happy here.

If you want to go straight into Investment Banking after undergraduates, go to Duke. That is simply because, brand name plays an extremely important role in getting a good job in Investment Banking. Not saying that Tufts does not have the brand name, it does but it would just be easier from Duke. That is my opinion. Investment Banks do come to Tufts to recruit as well, so that should not be a worry.

With all that said, I think the education you will receive at Tufts will be different, and I personally think better. The student to faculty ratio at Tufts is 9:1, I dont think it is that good at Duke. A student REALLY develops as an individual and as a thinker when he/she goes through a good liberal arts education which is what you will receive at Tufts if you choose to major in economics. I am most probably heading to Tufts this fall and I too want to major in Economics and International Relations. Tufts has a great Economics program.

Two great schools. You just cannot lose.
Where does your gut tell you you’d be happier for the next four years? That’s where you should go.

I’m actually deciding between Duke and Tufts, also. I’d be going premed for sure but I am so unsure of which to pick. Tufts is much closer to my home (45 mins away). I visited both places and its hard to pick where I had a better time because both were two completley different experiences. If I had to pick one right now, it’d be Tufts but I want to make sure I make the right decision. Anyone care to enlighten me?

How does Tufts premed program compare to Dukes?

dukeeeeeeeeeeeee
