I applied to UNC CH, Duke, and NC State. I have a 3.8 unweighted GPA with 2340 SAT, lab research at UVM engineering, 200 hours volunteering, played JV sports and was in NHS and Scholars Bowl. What are my chances to get in these colleges and how you rank them by prestige and science/engineering strength?

You are pretty much without a doubt in at UNC CH and NC State (that is if you are instate at least).
Duke I can’t tell without first knowing your subject test scores and how your recs/essays are. At Duke, recs/essays/ECs are much more important since they almost every applicant is mega high SAT/GPA.
On rankings? Duke beats both of them, especially in biomedical engineering. It’s #3 in that in the nation. Remember though, Pratt is EXTREMELY competitive. UNC Chapel Hill engineering is laughable, while NC State has better nuclear/agricultural programs than Duke.
P.S.: I do hope you know what you are getting into. You will get no sleep in college by going into engineering at Duke.

Thanks for the answer. Math 2 subject test was a 790 and chemistry was a 740. The essays I thought were well written and I thought my recs painted me in a glorious light. I also put in hospital volunteering and EE research at UVM on there. I am out of state though, so I don’t know how that will affect me since I think I could get into UNC and NC State honors? Maybe I’m wrong?

You’ve definitely got a shot, but ironically enough
You have more of a chance at duke than unc oos. Duke doesn’t give a crap about oos,
