Hello, I was just wondering if anyone could give me feedback on the better CAS program between Duke and UPenn. I got accepted to Duke, but was waitlisted by UPenn. I will go ahead and accept Duke's offer, but I was wondering if I get off the waitlist at UPenn if I should go there over Duke. Also, I am interested in pre-med or some avenue in science. Thank you ahead of time.

Well, Penn is great for Pre-med. You have one of the leading medical centers in the nation on campus here. Because of that it attracts many pre-med students, and creates a competitive atmosphere. Someone interested more in that line of study can give you more feedback than I can.

Congrats on Duke though!

Both are AMAZING schools on par. Choose the one you like more.

definitely duke omg. EZ

If I go by what I really like more, I would say Duke definitely…temperature, atmosphere. But if going to UPenn can give me a better advantage than Duke can, then…

Penn has a better name and will get you better opportunities. Though the difference between the two is ultimately insubstantial.

I’m in the exact same position, iwishiwereblack.

In undergraduate rankings, Penn is #6 and Duke is #8. The disparity is almost insignificant–you can’t go wrong with either choice.

I’ve decided to make Duke my #1 option because I plan to go to different universities for undergrad, med school, and residency. (Don’t ask why. The concept has always appealed to me.) Since medical school is more important than undergrad in overall medical education, I’m expecting to get into a higher ranked medical school than Duke’s (#8).

^Not sure how much it matters, but I think Penn has a much better biomed program at the undergrad level

For the vast majority of students, there is virtually no difference between the resources at the two universities. Even the most dedicated undergraduates rarely push the limits of what elite universities have to offer. Choose the one you like more – in this case, Duke.
