Ok so this is probably a really stupid question, but on the form where they ask us to attach 6 pictures, can they all be the same picture or do they want 6 different pictures? Thanks

I was wondering the same thing. I finally decided to just put all the same (I don't have 6 different ones anyway).

lol, I actually called about that. Yeah, apparently most people simply send 6 of the same picture.

If you have six different pictures, the six different uses for the pictures will all have different shots of you.

It's probably best to be consistent.

I don't have six different pictures, so I am just gonna use the same picture!

are we supposed to send in the pics in picture format (like a kiosk at Costco or something)?
or can we just print it in color from a digital camera ourselves?

and what happens to these pics? will there be a pic of johnny depp next to my name in the stanford yearbook?

They can just be printed in color. They go for random things like your Stanford ID, a picture of you on a big board in your dorm showing where you're from, etc. The same picture for all six photos is fine, perhaps even preferable?

I emailed them about this, and they said that six of the same pictures is fine.

Is anyone else having problems getting the specified size for the photos? What did you guys do about it?

I went to Rite Aid and used one of the Kodak machine things, to make nine wallet sizes of my yearbook portrait. Then I cut up the pictures to make them 2 x 3.

Ohhh, thanks. I think I'm going to Rite Aid tomorrow and doing something similar.

3 other questions:

1) Is the "Additional Comments" section something nobody ever really fills out unless they're VERY unique (i.e. collects toenail clippings under bed unique) or is it better to fill this section out with less "unique" stuff if you are picky about roommates, just so they can have more info when making roommate selections? I remember reading a post about saying that you are of X religion just to avoid awkward situations (the example that was used was that someone was a strong Christian, and their roommate insulted the religion or something and ended up offending their roommate...)

2) What is up with the music question? Does it mean: "I like to listen to music sometimes to de-stress" or "I like to blast rock music at night instead of sleeping"?

3) Is History a Social Science or part of the Humanities? My gut reaction is to say social science but on the freshman survey we got, it was listed under humanities...

ebony, history is part of humanities.

I know my roommate noted that she goes to bed rather late (like early morning late) on the additional comments form. If there's anything you think they should know from something as uninteresting as sleeping habits to something really weird/unique.

my roommate's a conservative Christian, and we get along just fine :)

heh -- they won't kill you if you fill out the additional comments section; in fact, they rather like it. put everything that you think is relevent, so they (the Freshman Dean's Office) can make the best matching possible (Dean J runs through all the forms, giving them quick glances). Just use your discretion

for the adviser response, how in detail should we go into our future plans? in other words, how detailed should it be?

I think they use it just for matching you to an advisor....if you say your interest/background is in math, for example, they'll try to give you a math prof. The form is a jumping point for your first advisor meeting; after that, I don't think anyone ever looks at it again. uap (undergrad advising programs) likes to have that kind of thing
