dumb question 12/31 deadline

If you file before 12/31, is that ok even if you don't send your high school transcript until january?

After all, the high school is locked up until january

Colleges usually state that materials other than the application should be postmarked by the app deadline. However, most accept some grace period into January for supporting materials.

Note you should also check high school as there may well be people manning the front office and you might still be able to order a transcript.

Why don’t you make sure the transcripts are sent as soon as possible? We had our son send them in well ahead of time, even for schools where he wasn’t completely sure he was going to apply. If he doesn’t apply there, then the school is left with a transcript sitting in a file somewhere - no big deal. And we are out the $2.00 cost of sending it. Again, no big deal.

Don’t take the risk. Have them sent right away. Good luck.

It depends on the college, but most of the colleges I have looked at only require that you submit your materials, the application and supplement, by the deadline date and the other materials can be submitted after that date.
