Hey guys, I actually have a job this year so I've been treating myself to things lol. I'd like to get an IPod but I don't know what kind and I know one of you has to know all about them!

Ok so I love music but I would probably never want more than 100 songs on it at one time (it's a neat freak ocd thing I have) so the 20,000+ songs thing does not apply to me at all, I think I'd like to go jogging with it though and I'm not sure if one is better than another in that respect. Basically I just want to make sure the one I buy is "cool."
Thanks in advance!

i would suggest to get the iPod suffle. it doesn't hold as many songs as the larger iPods, its very small/compact, and it clips onto clothing or whatever if you want to go jogging with it Apple - iPod shuffle

Idk, I wouldn't be able to justify the purchase of an iPod if I was only going throw 100 songs on it - unless you get the shuffle, which holds (I believe) about 100. However, you can't pick what song you want to listen to.

You don't need an ipod for 100 songs. Get a cheap mp3 player (sandisk is good) that can take SD cards and a decent sized SD card and you'll be golden. If you do get an iPod you'll either end up getting way more than you need or one without a screen. If no screen sounds fine to you then go for the shuffle.

This compels you to buy an iPod with a screen. Talk is there is about to be a new model. Weeks away.

Apple is likely to announce a redesigned iPod Touch and slimmer MacBooks at an event in September, analysts said on Monday.

The announcements -- scheduled ahead of the U.S. holiday shopping season -- could include price drops for the iPod Touch and MacBook laptops. Starting prices for the iPod Touch could fall to US$199 from $299 and for MacBooks starting prices could drop to $999 from $1,099.

wow you have the exact opposite problem than me. I have a nano, it holds about 1000 songs, and I have about 9000 lol.
But yeah, either get a shuffle or a really cheap offbrand one. or see if you could find one used on craigslist.

I'm not anti-iPod... but, for the cost of one for about 100 songs, I would definitely take a look at some of the alternatives out there.

I personally like the look of the Sansa Clip from Sandisk. It's kind of a cute little player. There are 2gb versions, which hold about 500 songs, on Amazon for $40 for the black one and about $50 for red, pink, or blue. Plus, like the name suggests, it has a clip so you can just clip and go.

But, if you really want an iPod... Today on Woot, they have a 30gb iPod video refurb for about $135 total. If you want one of those, you'd have to order one today, though.

For like 100 songs.. I suggest looking at other company stuff too like Creative, Iriver, cowon, Samsung whatever so on. My friend also bought a small one to start with, but she realized more she carried it around, more she wanted to listen to songs so she ended up updating to creative zen not too long after.

Yeah, you can get a really nice Creative Zen mp3 player for under or around $100, and that's usually 4GB worth of music with some nifty extra features. I don't think they have the "coolness" of Ipods (but why is that a prerequisite, I don't know).

I vouch for creative zen's- I think I got mine for 30 or so dollars [albeit a long time ago and probably through some really big sale], it's lasted for a LONG time, has great battery life in my opinion (for only 1 AAA battery), and I think holds about 100 songs.
