Dumb question

We were just in Chicago visiting Columbia College and SAIC. SAIC reviewed her portfolio and the admissions counselor said he was "accepting it". What exactly does that mean? I tried to clarify it and asked him if she applied, would she have a pretty good chance of getting in, and he said, I've accepted her portfolio. So does that mean that that's her "official" portfolio review for admission? I know she has to meet the GPA.SAT/ACT standards as well, but can we relax about the portfolio requirement now? It seems too good to be true, given that she didn't think she had a chance for the "big name" schools.

My D had her portfolio “accepted” by MICA after review at National Portfolio Day last November. They made it clear she still had to go through the rest of the application process, so having the portfolio “accepted” does not mean the same as being accepted to the school. It just means that her portfolio of work meets the minimum requirement for admission.
My D was still encouraged to submit her portfolio at MICA for a scholarship, which was a separate process.

Thanks - the admissions counselor just contacted us and told her that they want to see her portfolio again in December for merit scholarship purposes, and that she was one of the counselors “FAV’s”, of which they are allowed to select 25 students. So things look pretty good at this point I think.
