dungeons our fate?

Ok, by dungeons i mean rejection...Would a 630 in each section be too low for pomona, i'm thinking?

the average SAT score for each section for pomona is around 700 i think

omg--i thought it was a 680 haha

the average for each section is a 710, according to the Pomona informational sessions.

that...sucks...because...that's almost impossible to get a 710 lol

what about a 670math, 670writing and 710CR?
and a 640 in Math II and 760 in World History?

The point is that there is no established set of scores that will guarantee admission since there are so many other factors they look at and consider. (It has always been my belief that standardized test scores break applicants rather than make them.) If you really want to know about scores, look at the Enrolled Class of 2010 Profile (<a href="http://pomona.edu/ADWR/Admissions/Forms/2010profile.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://pomona.edu/ADWR/Admissions/Forms/2010profile.pdf</a>), which should give you a good idea about the grade and score distribution of current Pomona freshmen. Keep in mind, however, that these aren't statistics for all admitted students, but for all enrolled students. But above all, remember that scores are NOT all that matters.

I wish you the best of luck with your ed2 application, but want to mention that Pomona's admission process is SAT heavy. They rank the SAT and other standardized test as "very important" critera in evaluating candidates. However, remember that your grades, reccomendations, essays, activities and talents are equally as important. Pomona is an extremely competitve school, with an acceptance rate that hovers around 16%, and most admitted students are strong across the board. I believe that Pomona will discount your test scores if there are any serious extrenuating circumstances mentioned in your application (i.e. an illness, learning disability, substandard financial situation etc.) As a student admitted through ed1, I believe that above all, Pomona wants interesting, unique students to fill its class. If you stand out in a particular, somewhat out of the ordinary area, you will be admitted. Also, admission standards are lowered for athletes, legacies and severly disadvantaged students. And for the record, Pomona's average SAT on the new test is around 2190 (730 per section). SATs count, but your personality and other academic achievements do too. Good luck in the coming weeks.

Darnshorty got it right, it is 730 for each section.

However, I wouldn't say that Pomona's process is SAT heavy. (Don't trust collegeboard to tell you whats important in admissions). One of my good friends in admissions but it very simply;

"We don't admit people because they have high SAT scores, but the people who we admit tend to do very well on the SAT"

Meaning; an SAT will not make your application, or break your application, the school is small enough that they can see through the numbers and choose people (not lists of statistics) to fill the covetted spots in the class of 2011, so if you're strong in the other areas, you should have a good chance.

Good luck!
