Dupont Scholarship

Anyone here ever been considered for it? I'm just wondering how good your stats have to be. I figured someone on CC must have been eligible at some point.

My son was invited to apply two years ago. You had to be in the top 125 of all the applicants to UDEL. From what I can remember of his stats: 35 ACT, 1450/1600 SAT, 4.58 GPA weighted, ranked 3rd in his class and he took 10 or 11 AP classes.

He and the other invitees spent a night (or two) at the dorms and spent the next day interviewing. All the invitees received a scholarship (at the time, it covered the cost of tuition) if you didn’t get a Dupont or another scholarship.

Its the top 125-150. It changes from year to year. My stats.

3.83 GPA
730 Math
790 Verbal
700 Writing

… i definitely wasn’t one of their best applicants but i had a slew of extracurrics. the best part about the selection is that its not just stats. they weigh heavily on other factors. you also have to interview pretty well.

My sister was considered for it.
She had a 4.2 weighted out of 4.25ish and was salutatorian.
Her SAT’s were CR 760 M 690 W 800
She wrote several professionally performed plays.
She turned the scholarship down for Columbia full price.

Yes, they are trying to entice the top students to enroll. One of the students awarded the Dupont turned it down for Harvard.

The interviews is a major factor. They interview throughout the process including the dinner/lunch as they had interviewers sitting with the students at their tables plus the individual interview at the end of the process.
