Duquesne for out of state students

Hi ,
My D is very interested in the Sports Marketing program at Duquesne, she met with the professor and was very impressed. We are a little concerned though as we have heard that the campus gets very quiet on the weekend as a lot of the students go home. What percentage of underclassmen are from OOS ?

Haha that’s funny…I’m OOS and got accepted into Sports Marketing and am wondering the same thing

PVImom…I sent you a PM

Hi - My son is an OOS senior at Duquesne. He never found the weekends being quiet to be a problem - there were plenty of other out of state students and in state students who did not go home. It seemed as if at the beginning of freshman year more kids went home on weekends but that tapered off as new friendships were made. Also some of the local kids who did go home would not go for the entire weekend. I am not sure of the OOS % but a number of his friends are also OOS. Good luck!

Hi - My son also came from OOS. He was accepted into the Honors College and lives in the Honors dorm and found that lots of other OOS students are in the Honors dorm, too, so the vast majority of his friends stay at school. The nice thing about being downtown, but being in its own oasis, is that the students have tons of options on the weekends, both on campus and in the city, so it doesn’t really seem to empty out. My daughter, on the other hand, sees a lot of her school empty out as people drive to Northern Virginia, about an hour away, rather than stay on the suburban campus where the only options for the weekend is what the school has to offer.
