DD and I would like to visit Duquesne this summer. It's about a 6 hour drive for us. We got a flyer for DuquesneFest Special Events. Do you think it would be more beneficial to visit at such a big open house, or wait and take a smaller tour later in the summer? I know that neither of the summer options is optimal in terms of observing current students. If it ends up being a real possibility, she'll go back to visit during the school year.

Also, she's interested in one of the Digital Arts majors - anyone have first hand knowledge of Duquesne's programs?

I would definitely go to the Duquesne Fest. It was a well-organized and dynamic event. My daughter left there with a lot of enthusiasm for the university. In fact, I seem to remember that there was some time to attend presentations from individual schools.

Since you are coming from out of town, I’m guessing that you will be staying overnight. Maybe you could consider making a one-on-one appointment with someone in your department on Friday, tour around the city a bit on Saturday (eat, shop, go to sports or cultural events or art galleries - there’s lots to do here), etc, and then attend the Duquesne Fest on Sunday.

If you have any particular questions about Duquesne or Pittsburgh, I will try to help you out. :)
