I'm majoring in engineering, so I know Kinsolving and Duren would be the closest to my classes. My roommate is doing business though, so which dorm is closest to the business school? Is Duren too far away from anything? I've heard it's really far to walk to like the gym or anything but it's close to the drag. San Jac seems really nice, only it's really hard to get into and it's far from most of my classes. What are the main differences between Duren and San Jac? And Kinsolving is on the list because I originally wanted to do the women engineers in kinsolving program, but I am not sure if I will. What are your opinions?

Duren isn’t really close to the drag. It’s not really close to anything. You most likely won’t get into San Jac. Kinsolving is right by Duren, so it’s still far away.

Actually, Duren and Kinsolving are right next to the Drag (Guadelupe). I walk to the gym everytime and I’m in West Campus (26th street). Classes would be good for you since most will be in the engineering buildings (CPE, ECJ, etc.). But your roommate would be out of luck if she chose Duren or Kinsolving. Jester, Moore-Hill, San Jac would be better choices for her since McCombs would be a lot closer. Overall, Kinsolving is actually a pretty good choice if your roommate doesn’t mind a 10 minute walk to the business building.

I live in Kinsolving right now and yes it’s a five minute walk (even less) to engineering buildings. For various reasons, I walk to McCombs or to buildings close to it many times per week and the ten or fifteen minute walk it’s not really that bad Your roommate could also take a UT shuttle but it will still take around 15 minutes to get there. I agree that overall Kinsolving is the best choice out there.

If you do choose Kinsolving, consider getting a connecting bathroom! It’s super duper convenient if your suitemates are awesome.
