During the summer, am I considered a senior?

If I volunteered this summer, do I check the 11 or 12 box on the common app? (I'm going to be a senior this fall)

I always consider the summer 11th to still be 11th. You are now a “rising senior” so I wouldn’t call it senior year.

Thanks for the clarification!

Sure! Everyone has an opinion on this, but that’s mine. Just stay consistent.

I would consider anything you do past August to be “senior year” as many schools are starting now, especially if it is something you will do during the school year or next summer too.

I’m still trying to figure out how to report activities done during senior year but after applications are sent–do you check the 12 box because you will do them as a senior-say things in the spring of your senior year that you have done every other year in high school (sports).

call at what you like. personally, I consider that senior year, but everyone has there own opinion. like Lehigh said, just be consistent.

@Steve yeah, I think you just check the 12 box, even if it’s something you’re just planning
