DUS Question

Hello everyone, I was denied admission from Smeal (finance major), but I emailed admissions and they allowed me to resubmit my application for the DUS. I was notified I was accepted into the DUS today. In general, what are the differences between a Smeal finance major and a DUS student who knows they want to major in finance? (Will I fall behind? Will I have to take unwanted major courses?)

Thanks.

First of all, Congrats! Second of all, no difference whatsoever. You will have to meet the same entry to major requirements that you would have had to meet if you were initially entered in Smeal. You can take all of the same classes and you can work towards Finance the same exact way. You will have a DUS advisor rather than a Smeal advisor but you can consult with a Smeal advisor if the DUS advisor doesn’t know something (unlikely).

No difference. No you will not fall behind. Be aware that you will need a 3.5 gpa to declare a finance major in four semesters. But, you would have needed a 3.5 even if you had been admitted directly to Smeal.
