Dykstra hall bathrooms

So i have heard that Dykstra Hall bathrooms suck, but I dont know why. Can someone please explain the layout of them and how the differ from other res hall bathrooms?

Also, I hear a lot of negativity about Dykstra Hall, anything positive to boost my excitement? Haha. I know it's old and social, anything else? Thanks! :)

I answered your questions in the other threads lol.

Other good stuff :
Dykstra is the closest dorm to campus, De Neve Dining hall (best one IMO) and Westwood. Its also connected to De Neve, giving you a nice place to study.

Seriously though, I can’t emphasize how much more social Dykstra is than any other hall. The floors are literally one long hall way with rooms facing each other (the closest dorm to this is Hedrick), meaning that as long as you leave your dorm open (which most do), you can literally see your neighbors and push you to get up and talk to people. Also, each floor has one lounge which makes everyone congregate and meet eat other. Finally, the fact that its the dingiest dorm brings everyone closer together since its a shared experience lol.

As you can see, I really enjoyed Dykstra. I made a huge group of close friends (we call our group “D3”) and met my best friends at UCLA. Sure, the other halls on the hill are renovated and fancier, but they are no where as social as Dykstra is. (Room/lounge layout, split floors, mainly 2nd/3rd years/etc who are in cliques). Of course, I got lucky on how close my floor is (and still is), but living in Dykstra was part of the reason.

Trust me, in a few months there will be threads of people in plazas/suites/2nd year halls asking how to meet people since their dorms are antisocial. You won’t have that problem in Dykstra.

Good luck!

^agree with everything said above.

Dykstra is awesome, I just had my first year there, and I’m so glad I wasn’t put in another dorm. I loved being close to campus (I’m super lazy), and I just loved the atmosphere!

The bathrooms really aren’t that bad. It’s actually the way I met a lot of people. It would take me like an hour to brush my teeth because I would have to stop and say hi to people in the open rooms on the way down the hall.

Yeah it’s old, and walking from the De Neve portion to the Dykstra section makes you laugh a little, but if you go in with a good attitude, I’m sure you’ll have a great time. (:

The only difference between dykstra bathrooms and other places is that dykstra bathrooms are older. That’s it

I actually thought dykstra was closed this year but guess not. It’s incredibly social :)
