I heard somewhere that the Dyson school is like a state school in the fact that it is inclined to admitting NYers and also inclined to giving much more aid to NYers.
Is this true?
If out of state, would Dartmouth be a better option?
Thanks

Dyson is a part of CALS, which is a contract college and NOT a state school. Your chances of getting in aren’t less if you are not a resident of NY. And I don’t think NYers get more aid either.

AEM does have a lower acceptance rate than many of the other colleges at Cornell (perhaps even less than engineering), though I may be wrong. I think I saw somewhere that it was 11%, and that close to only 100 undergrads enroll.

So getting into Dartmouth (I think) would be easier, but not because CALS is a contract college, but because Dyson is inherently very competitive to get into. However, I believe that Dyson is the better school.

Thanks for the help Truust!

Hope this helps:
