E-mail from UC Berkeley?

^^ seriously doubting the credibility of that…

^ Get back to me in 24 hours.

I hope you’re right…

This is not good… my hopes are sky-high.

At this point, I’d be shocked if someone who got the email didn’t get in. It just doesn’t seem likely they would send the email to someone who wasn’t accepted.

^labecrouge

Obamaaaaaaaaa

foggy future: so you really did seriously find out that info, it’s legit?.. why would anyone lie about that anyway, haha…

Thanks you nick_sheu and cherryvaseline for your replies.

I’m excited. It can’t be helped. Hopefully I’m not crushed once again tomorrow evening. I was shocked when I didn’t get into UCLA with TAP completed. My friend and I have never heard of someone getting rejected from UCLA with all the prereqs and TAP completed with a gpa above 3.2 or so. I particularly shocked because I had even met with UCLA TAP coordinators and admissions staff and they reassured me that I would get accepted with 100% confidence. My honors coordinator at my college told me that 90% of the UCLA applicants from my school that completed TAP would get accepted. Surprising.

I thought that I was completely out of the running for CAL since I couldn’t even get into UCLA but now it looks like odds are in my favor. Either way I have already been admitted to UCSD and I’d be excited to got there to.

Thanks all.

@hungry: what are your stats?

btw, I think those that got the email can be optimistic for tomorrow but let’s be cautiously optimistic

Is this legit? It’s hard to believe someone would just openly say the email was supposed to be sent tomorrow to admitted applicants. That’s basically leaking admission decisions a day early.

@naniwa

Poli Sci Major

3.54 gpa (my only weakness in my eyes) (rising grade trend)

all prereqs minus the poli 3 that can only be taken at CAL

IGETC

TAP certified via 15 honors units

EC - poli sci college tutor, volunteer w/democratic party, volunteer work with Alpha Gamma Sigma honors society, and more

I probably have more work experience than the average transfer applicant as I’ve held two executive level positions in a couple of different organizations. My last job was Director of Training and Development for a telecommunications company.

My app is rather unorthodox.

hungry4ucb - i remember your other post where you described your experience…i think Cal would be lucky to have you and i also think that you have a really good shot. Yeah your GPA isn’t exactly great…but Cal should take into consideration your above average work experience…plus they like non-traditional students.

please update us when you find out!

thanks for the vote of confidence cherry. I’ll be sure to let everyone know how it turns out. Good luck to you as well.

hey all, i started a trend of people posting their stats , whether they got into UCLA, their IGETC status, pre req completion, and whether or not they got this infamous financial aid email. check it out in this thread : http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1137998-those-applied-fa-uc-berkeley-but-did-not-get-any-emails.html

i think at this point, there is noone with horrible stats who has received the email. im under the impression the email = acceptance until i hear of such person.

Ok I haven’t posted anything yet but I’ve been glued to these stupid threads all day. Obviously we’re all just going to have to wait until tomorrow and perhaps then create a comprehensive thread with real data. That being said, I DID receive the email, but I do not really expect to get in.
My GPA is 3.7 with over 80 semester units from CCC with quite a few W’s and two F’s that I had to retake the classes for because I had to leave after the withdraw deadline. IGETC is complete for MOST UC’s, but Cal had a few dif foreign lang and math requirements I did not fulfill. No high school experience, no test scores; I was a foster youth and got a GED early. No EC besides full-time work concurrent with full-time school. I wrote my personal statement last minute. So I have no idea what they’re looking for because I DID get accepted to UCLA.
My stats are nothing to write home about so if I get in tomorrow, I would say that the email is a definite indicator.

I received the e-mail early last month and I am still waiting for their decision. Their website says that their decision will be posted tonight.

@aceticacid - Can you post a link to the page that says the decision will be posted tonight? I’m looking for info for my friend who is waiting.

I am hoping the e-mail is an indicator. What I’ve heard, however, is that the finaid office and admissions office are separate and it’s most likely that every applicant has an account created for them as long as they filled out FAFSA. Has anyone heard anything along these lines?

My stats are by no means stellar but my hopes skyrocketed when I received the e-mail this morning.

i got the email and was accepted for spring 2012!

my gpa wasn’t particularly high but my unorthodox educational path with my work experience, ECs, and kickass personal statement were recognized and they were kind enough to let me in.

i won’t you let you down CAL! I’m gonna bust my ass and do something useful with my education!

yay!
