did anyone else receive this? i know it's a form of augmented review, but as an oos student, i didnt think i would get one. the fact that i didnt receive one from berkeley makes me think i didnt get into there, since if im borderline/reject at la, it's probably the same at cal.

anyway, it reads:

" Thank you for applying to UCLA. As part of our review process, we would like to give you the opportunity to provide additional information about yourself. This is an optional supplemental component to our review process that may assist our readers in evaluating your application. For more information and to complete this supplemental questionnaire, please visit http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/supplemental. If you choose to submit supplemental information, please do so by February 10, 2008.

Note that we are still in the process of reviewing applications. Decisions will be available on our Web site towards the end of March.

for the grades portion would you post your grades if you haven't gotten your official report card yet? im pretty sure what i got for a couple classes but im not sure on others?

Wait to complete the app, if your grades released before the tenth. Or explain the situation to your teachers and see if they'll be understanding. You don't even have quarter grades or anything? Then you'll have a chance to explain yourself; there should be a field for additional info, if they haven't changed the app.

thesmiths: You don't have to assume that you're out at Cal. I mean, you could be a spring admit, like I was. (No supp app from Cal, too.) Who knows. Admission can be so arbitrary. It's not a sure thing.

Jason: 4.3, 2300+, still received one last year. Don't be such a crybaby.

Many people are saying that the people who get the additional information email from UCLA are the borderline people. What if you didn't get the email? Can i assume that I will most likely not get in then I don't have amazing numbers like a 4.4 GPA and a 2300+ SAT score. Should I just consider myself rejected?

It's great to receive a supplemental email even if you are considered borderline. The bottom line is that you being considered for admission. Good luck!

Neither did I, but I'm not too concerned about it although UCLA is my first choice. With the 55,000+ applications, it's gonna take luck to get in.

would it be wise to follow the link given by the smiths and fill out the supplemental application even if you did not get the email? Has anyone tried? just wondering, thanks.

crosbone, I tried. After you put in your app#, name, etc, it says something along the lines of "we do not currently require additional information." So they don't let you give more info if they don't want it.

My understanding is that UCLA is holistic in their review process, and you are still in the running. Take the time to fill out the form to the best of your ability-it will be time well spent. Note---for those who did not receive one---breathe!--my DD did NOT receive one-but was accepted into the Fall admits.
G'luck to everyone-UCLA is an AWESOME university-imho.

usually the email is sent to borderline applicants-whether they are borderline in SAT, GPA, ECs, etc.-NOT those who expressed themselves well in every area of the application. Therefore, if you did NOT receive one, take it as a positive, not a negative. Likewise, if you DID receive one, it doesn't mean you won't get in, they just want to know more about you before making a decision.
