E-Mail

Has anyone had trouble setting up their Wash U e-mail on Outlook or their smartphone? I followed the online instructions with incoming and outgoing ports, etc. but it does not work.

Yeah it’s not working for me

Incoming server should be POP mail with the name outlook.com and port 995. I never configured the outgoing server, though.

Check out go.wustl.edu for the new go account info (well new as of 2 and a half semesters ago) – it should work fine. If you’re already doing that and it doesn’t work, your accounts probably not setup.

I used the information at go.wustl.edu/faqs. My account is working in the sense that I can send and receive e-mails from my account (my at go.wustl.edu account, not in Outlook). When I set up the account in Outlook, it does appear as an account, but it does not receive my e-mails and it repeatedly asks for my user name and password.

Outlook won’t update without the correct username/password, which is why you might see an account, but it won’t update, and it will keep asking for your username/password everytime you logon when it has incorrect info.
Why…I’m not sure (make sure you’re using the @go.wustl.edu for name and not just @wustl.edu)

Thank you so much marcdvl!! For all of those who may be having problems, the trick is to add the “go” to @go.wustl.edu. Use that each time it asks for your e-mail address or your user name. Also make sure you check (at least for Outlook 2007) “require logon using secure password authentication” AND “my outgoing server requires authentication.” Good luck.

Yeah, whenever you log in you need the “go” but anyone sending an email to you can just type @wustl.edu.

I was able to set it up on my iPhone. I used the instructions on the website.
