E-mails from Exeter

Has anyone ever received an e-mail from Exeter, inviting you to apply?
I am not talking about follow-up e-mails but original ones, send instead of a letter. Anyone?

do you mean like instead of a viewbook, a e-mail?

Yes, exactly that, a recruiting e-mail.

interesting, i have never heard of this.

Well, I am asking, becasue I have been told by someone that they have received them and I happen to believe that this person is not telling me the whole truth:-)

The only scenario I could think of this occurring in would be if this person were a high-level athlete. Exeter gets too many applications as it is and they have to turn away many highly qualified applicants. There would have to be something very special about someone for this to happen…something more than 99th percentile SSAT’s and a 4.0 gpa. A few years back there was an article in our local paper about two brothers who were recruited to Exeter to be on the swim team. I don’t know the specifics, but the article made it sound like Exeter did heavily recruit those boys. My own son was approached by a coach at SPS inviting him to apply there.

Is your friend an amazing athlete?

If he’s telling the truth, he’s either an amzing athlete or did some GREAT amazing feat (aka Nobel Prize?)

what did he say? do you know him personally

Not an amazing athlete. Probably someone who is bragging.
I have never heard of anyone receiving e-mail as an initial contact from a school like Exeter. Viewbook, a letter, but not an e-mail.

well, go with what you think. I would ask him if he is bragging, and if there is a reason. does he feel that he needs to make something up because you are great to something. just talk to him, he would not lie for no reason. :)

I received a letter from Exeter, and I know someone else who got it as well.

An e-mail letter? Asking you to consider applying to Exeter? Or was it an actual snail-mail letter?
