Anyone else getting lots of Maryland e-mail? S got and "Academics at Maryland" e-mail, as well as a "Happy Holidays" e-mail. (Which BTW was really cute.)

This is the only school to which he applied that seems to be sending periodic e-mails to him, and they are going to the e-mail address he used for his application rather then his "every day" address.

RTR: apparently there are certain schools that have jumped on the “info” bandwagon; my daughter (junior) received at least 5 info and “Happy Holidays” emails from schools she has signed up for info from…(we even received one addressed to parents!!)

Throughout the process, from admit letters through graduation, nearly ALL of UMD’s communication is via email… for students, don’t rely on mail sent to your home to remind you to confirm housing, pay tuition, etc. Even if you are hoping that your wonderful parents will pay your tuition, housing, etc. you will need to get the info to them. They won’t receive any bills, etc.

The “informatory” emails that they send before decisions come out are a nice touch. Otherwise, there’s a whole block of time where you hear very little.

Yeah, the only problem is that those e-mails make you even more excited about getting into Maryland, so it probably becomes even more of a let down if you don’t make it! They should really start sending them after you get accepted, more bang for their buck to help students decide to attend.
